Joana Vasconcelos

Joana Vasconcelos is a contemporary Portuguese visual artist renowned for her large-scale sculptures and immersive installations that incorporate everyday domestic objects, textiles, and traditional craft techniques such as crochet and azulejos. She gained international prominence in 2005 at the 51st Venice Biennale with 'A Noiva' (The Bride) and became the youngest artist and first woman to exhibit at the Palace of Versailles in 2012. Her work critiques consumer society, domesticity, and gender roles with humor and monumental grandeur.
