Artist profile
Michael Cook
Michael Cook is an Australian Indigenous photo-media artist of Bidjara heritage. Using digitally layered photographic staging, Cook re-envisions historical narratives surrounding European settlement, colonization, and Indigenous identity in Australia. His stylistically cinematic series swap socio-political roles between Indigenous people and European settlers to challenge dominant historical perceptions and colonial power structures.
