Bodys Isek Kingelez was a Kinshasa-based sculptor recognized for his colorful and elaborate architectural maquettes of futuristic utopian cities constructed from paper, cardboard, and found materials. His practice achieved worldwide acclaim after appearing in the landmark 1989 exhibition 'Magiciens de la terre' and was celebrated in a major retrospective at MoMA in 2018.
