Emily Kame Kngwarreye

Emily Kame Kngwarreye was a senior Anmatyerre elder and one of Australia's most celebrated Indigenous visual artists. Beginning her career late in life through batik making, she transitioned to acrylic painting on canvas in 1988, creating expansive, gestures-driven compositions rooted in ceremonial body paint and seasonal flora that gained global recognition.
