Julião Sarmento

Julião Sarmento was one of Portugal's most internationally celebrated contemporary visual artists. Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and performance, his work frequently examined theme of desire, psychological tension, memory, and literature. He represented Portugal at the 47th Venice Biennale in 1997 and participated in Documenta 7 and 8.
